Why a code sometimes does not arrive
Four causes account for nearly all of it: a resend cooldown that has not expired, a mistyped country code, a platform that is refusing that route today, or a number range that has seen heavy use. The fix is a different route, not another attempt on the same one — repeated failures make acceptance less likely.
Keeping access to the account
A one-time number is released after the verification, so it cannot receive a future code. If the account may ever ask you to re-verify, attach a rented number or set a backup factor at signup rather than after you are locked out.
Choosing a country

A temp number is a short-term virtual line that receives SMS in an online inbox. It is the right tool for a signup you do not need to return to, for keeping a personal number off a service you are only trying out, and for separating test accounts from real ones.
It is the wrong tool for anything you need continued access to. It is released after the activation, so a service that later asks you to confirm the same number will not be able to reach you. A rented number is the answer there, and a free number is the answer if you just want to see how the flow works before spending anything.

My code did not arrive. What now?

Are temp numbers suitable for important accounts?
For testing and low-risk signups, yes. For banking, a primary email, or anything business-critical, no — a one-time number is released after use and you will not be able to receive a future code on it. Use a rented number when continued access matters.
How reliable is delivery?
It varies by route, and we publish the real figure rather than a claim: the pricing page shows a measured 30-day delivery rate per service and country, taken from our own delivery records. Routes without a large enough recent sample show a dash instead of an estimate.
Is there an API?
Yes. The REST API covers the same catalogue as the dashboard — list services and countries, order a number, poll for the code, and cancel. It is the same pricing and the same inventory; there is no separate plan for API access.
SMS or an authenticator app?
Where a platform offers an authenticator app or a passkey, that is the stronger factor and you should prefer it for accounts that matter. SMS remains the only option many services accept at signup, which is what a temp number is for.
